WHY ADD A SOLAR BATTERY?
Store More. Save More.
A solar battery allows you to store the excess energy your solar panels generate during the day, so you can use it when the sun isn’t shining. Whether you want to reduce electricity bills, improve energy security, or prepare for future energy needs, battery storage is a smart investment.
- Store excess solar power for later use
- Reduce reliance on the electricity grid
- Lower ongoing electricity costs
- Enjoy greater energy independence
HOW SOLAR BATTERIES WORK
Power When You Need It Most
During the day, your solar panels generate electricity. Any unused energy is stored in your battery instead of being sent back to the grid. When your home needs power in the evening or during an outage, your battery automatically supplies stored energy.

Battery Rebates & Incentives in Varsity Lakes
Homeowners in Varsity Lakes may be eligible for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, which has applied to eligible battery installations between 5 and 100kWh since 1 July 2025. It works the same way as the solar STC scheme — it generates certificates that reduce your battery’s upfront cost as an instant discount, rather than a rebate you claim after the fact, with the exact figure depending on your battery’s capacity and the certificate price on the day. If you’re adding a battery to an existing solar system, that system may still be earning STCs of its own on top. Varsity Lakes sits on the Energex network, and we handle the connection paperwork for the battery as part of the installation. Because program details and certificate values can change, we confirm your current eligibility and show the exact discount on your itemised quote before you commit to anything.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you install solar batteries in Varsity Lakes?
Yes — solar battery installation in Varsity Lakes is a regular part of our work, and as a Tweed Heads-based team we cover the area often.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar system?
Yes — in most cases we can add a battery to an existing solar system without touching your panels, provided your inverter is battery-ready or we upgrade it as part of the job.
How big a battery do I need?
It depends on your solar system size and your evening electricity usage. We size every battery around your actual usage rather than a generic package, so you’re not paying for capacity you’ll never use.
Will a battery work during a blackout?
Some battery and inverter combinations support backup power during an outage and some don’t — we’ll tell you plainly which option you’re getting before you commit to a quote.
Are your installers SAA accredited?
Yes — every battery installation is completed by our own licensed, SAA-accredited electricians, never subcontracted out.
Do I need a switchboard upgrade before a battery in Varsity Lakes?
Only if your existing board can’t safely support the extra circuit a battery needs — we check this as standard during every quote, so it’s never a surprise on installation day.
